The Inspiring Life of Dr. József Béres Sr.: A Children’s Storybook
A fiú, aki egy cseppet sem adta fel (The Boy Who Never Gave Up — Not Even a Drop)
A special milestone in the history of Béres: a children’s storybook portraying the life of Dr József Béres Sr, the inventor of Béres Drops, has been published by Móra Publishing House.
A fiú, aki egy cseppet sem adta fel (The Boy Who Never Gave Up — Not Even a Drop) is the latest volume in the Naphegy biography series, which aims to introduce Hungarian role models to children in an accessible and emotionally engaging way, individuals who believed in their dreams and followed their path with perseverance, step by step, drop by drop. From now on, the story of our founder will also live on in this form.
The book was officially presented at a press conference held on 4 February at the Béres headquarters. Its author, Attila Bodor, has a background in science and recounts the life of József Béres with sensitivity and empathy, guided by curiosity, responsibility and the conviction of never giving up, not even a single drop.
The visual world of the book is brought to life by the illustrations of Judit Káposztás, adding a meaningful personal dimension to the project:: she studied at the same institution once attended by József Béres himself.
We would like to thank Móra Publishing House for recognising the importance of this story and for giving it a place within the series.
This book is more than a publication.
Value. Inspiration. Legacy.
I have always felt that my grandfather, József Béres, lived a life much like a fairy tale — full of trials, unexpected turns, helpers and adversaries. He faced countless challenges, yet in the end, good prevailed. That is why it was a particularly moving experience for me to hold this book in my hands, allowing children to discover the extraordinary “adventures” of this remarkable Hungarian scientist and Széchenyi Prize–winning researcher. And yet, this is not a fairy tale. These events truly happened — not so very long ago. Today, as custodians of József Béres’s legacy, we remember him with pride. It is a wonderful feeling to follow in his footsteps and work every day to support people’s health, just as he did — with commitment, responsibility and perseverance, drop by drop. From the bottom of my heart, I hope that for everyone who reads it, the true story of my grandfather’s life will become a genuine source of strength and a guiding light for the future.
